Human Resources Service Circular: Leave Facilities, Version 1.0 (2024)

Based on the Human Resources Service Circular: Leave Facilities, Version 1.0 (2024) Universiti Malaysia Kelantan (UMK) provides comprehensive leave provisions to support staff during pregnancy and early parenthood.
Maternity leave is available to all female employees, including academic and non-academic staff with confirmed employment, and entitles them to up to ninety (90) consecutive days per childbirth with full salary throughout the leave period. In addition, paternity leave is provided to male staff to support the birth of their child, allowing them to take up to seven (7) consecutive days of leave with full pay.

Therefore, below is an example of the Maternity Leave Application Form for Public Service Officers and the Childbirth Certification Form, which must be completed and submitted in order to receive maternity leave entitlements.
UMK also implements the Government’s policy under Service Circular No. 11 of 2017, permitting female staff who are five (5) months pregnant or more to leave work one hour earlier than normal working hours to promote a safe and supportive working environment during pregnancy. These provisions reflect UMK’s commitment to staff well-being, family support, and a gender-inclusive workplace.
